
In preparation for the new millennium, the Golden Crumb team decided that we had to invest in a new facility which would be capable of sustaining us for the next decade and beyond.
We had been growing mushrooms as part of a vertical integration plan at a rented site and decided to build our new factory next door, moving in just before Easter 1999.
The noughties were the decade of development for the business in both products and production. The company was committed to staying ahead of the curve in foodservice evolution and had successfully brought to market several new products to complement its core range – positing the business as category leaders in the frozen coated starters and appetizers space.
In 2001 the company achieves a pass in the First British Retail Consortium (BRC) global technical standard at Foundation Level and in 2002 Higher level.
With the Grading system changed to letters we were grade B, then Grade A year after year, until grading system changed again following the ‘Unannounced Audit’ option.
